Dutch Goalie gets red card.....
for attacking a pitch-invading fan who attacked him first. Esteban, shot-stopper for AZ Alkmaar was confronted during tonights cup game against Ajax. The AZ Coach ordered his team off the pitch in disgust and the game was abandoned.
Can't remember Leicester City Goalie Ian Walker getting the same treatment (From one of his OWN fans)...

I just watched the clip before it went off-line. IMO if someone is going to attack you (no other reason for the idiot being on the pitch) you are perfectly within you own rights to defend yourself.
Lol... at above comments ...aim etc.. (I don't condone violence) but the goalie let him off lightly agreed.

I think the distinction is that, after "defending himself", he kicked the thug on while he was prostrate on the ground. My personal belief is that he should have hammered him into the middle of next week, but the law would take a different view and the term "minimum use of force" would be applicable when it comes to extricating yourself from a sticky situation. I know some would say that the moron on the pitch brought it all on himself, and I would agree with them, but the keeper had the chance to stop before kicking him while he was down.
