Update 4.9.8 video Downloadhelper/Grizzly Ape?
9 Answers
XP & FireFox 8.0.1
Recently when I start up my computer and before my home page loads I get two other pages appear one which says "Update 4.9.8 Video Downloadhelper" and one that is titled "Grizzly Ape".
I have looked all over the Update page to find where the 'Update' button is but with no success.
I can find a button that I should press if I wish to preform one of their recommended scans, but until I know what this site is, I do not wish to take any chances.
Can anyone tell me how to stop these pages loading please?

Tools .. Addons ... Any vtab .. but you can see the add-ons in list.
On RH top side there is a settings drop-down gear.
Drop this down and you can check updates .. or deselect automatic updating.
In Tools/Options/Advanced/Update tab you can select what to update automatically.
I uncheck everything and do all updates manually. Then to update main program .. Help/About/Check .. Update
DownloadHelper needs updating.
If you have an entry in the Add-on screen .. Screen Capture Elite .. that is the Grizzly Ape nonsense. Try removing or disabling it.

The grizzly ape one could be several different things, see here for the list and if you don't want/use whichever one it is remove it.
