I know there are people who still say that film gives getter results than digital but as technology increases and functions like film reproduction simulation become added to a cameras features, the gap is narrowing. The benefits of being able to see the shot instantly and being able to manipulate it with software must surely outweigh film in any way. I have a Fuji which replicates their Velvia film extremely well. If the OP was going to to develop the film themselves and was talking about SLRs rather than compacts, I could go some way towards seeing some reason in the request.
