It cost far more than the amount of money the IR believed had been evaded. That is probaly true of every prosecution, it just seems they wanted to make an example of him and it has backfired.

I wasn't surprised he got off, (money talks)
If you look at it in purely financial terms, you could argue that every trial is a waste of money.
i imagine that some money went back to the court. well the people at court. probably in bulging brown envelopes.
He's defo not as guilty as Ken Dodd was...............
I suspect there was an element of "pour encourager les autres" ...

// The Tottenham Hotspur manager was cleared by a jury at Southwark Crown Court today after a 13-day trial in which he was accused of evading around £80,000 of tax on a “transfer bung” of £187,000. //

// Today’s verdicts raise serious questions about the five-year police and Inland Revenue inquiry estimated to have cost £8 million. //

Most of the 'evidence' was provided by the News of the World'. Might explain why the police were reluctant to prosecute or even inform victims of NotW wrongdoing.
Send the case to Lord Stevenson then.....

At this rate, he'll either be running the country or writing a Constitution for the new England, Wales & NI.

The man who claims not to be R1Geezer. But we know different.
They might as well have just locked him up as he's never going to win anything with Tottenham anyway. In 30 Years as a Manager he has only won 1 Trophy (FA Cup with Portsmouth )

Who is rosie, vinny? I thought Sandra was 'Arry's wife, unless Rosie is one of Bunga Bunga's investments.....
