I recently watched Passport to Pimlico an old b & w film. During the initial credits up came the words'Dedicated to the memory of' with no name underneath. Does anyone have any idea who this might be

It usually means a person. How do you know it is ration books etc.

sorry, it wasn't cut off - it was the next shot, which is of clothing coupons and ration cards
PS, just checked it on the DVD
The joke being that Pimlico, having declared itself an independent Duchy, wouldn't need ration books any more.
