BBC Radio Stoke has always had this peculiar attitude to its listeners - that they are all a bunch of neck-end thickies and old folks who don't mind being patronised by out-of-area numpties who pray they are on the way to London.
Either that, or they produce 'local colour' which means that neck-end numpties actually get jobs talking on the radio - Den Siegertz, Paula White and so on.
I avoid it at all costs, except when at my MIL's - she has it on all the time. Dreadful stuff.
I freelanced there unpaid for two years when Bruno was on, so I got an insight into their thinking. Our show - the 2:50 Express was unlike anything else they did, then or now.
