Rivals
If your teams rivals are playing do you want them to lose every time, even in European competition?
I do, and don't understand why some 'fans' would want their rivals to win ANY game

I've lost the majority of interest in my team and football in general as a result of diving, cheating, ridiculous wages for namby-pamby prima donna's who bitch and moan to their agent when they can't get a private jet in their contract etc, however.....
To answer you question I'm passionate about Welsh rugby but when England were in the IRB WC Final against Australia in 2003 I wanted them to win because they earned it and deserved it. I guess rugby has a different mindset though and the example I've given is possibly borne out as a result of the British Lions, an ethos Team GB may benefit from at the Olympics.

Joe, you're obviously a 'fan' rather than a supporter. I've followed Tottenham for 50 years. But when I heard that Arsenal were 3 - 0 up tonight, I was delighted for them and hoped they'd do it.
A genuine football supporter wants to see good football, played by whoever. I can't be doing with this 'I'd rather see the local opposition lose than my own team win' b@oll@cks.
There are a lot of so-called 'fans' out there who need to grow up.

I hate Blues and all they represent, they"re just a bunch of Chavs, but they NEVER win anything,so no worries there..
I was a little thrilled to hear the score at Arsenal at half-time,even though Arse are another team I dislike, mainly because every Arse fan I ever met was a jerk!
No,it was a pity Arsenal could not go on 2nd half..but funny too! ;-)
My other objection, concerns the boring Rugby farts who come on Football threads to tell us how reasonable and agreeable Egg-Ball is..sooo flummin"tedious!!..just like those other Boring Farts..Snooker Pros..who waffle on about how they are"so like"Pro-Golfers"!!? ;0/
OMG - mention of The 3 most boring sports in 1 post!!

I always want British teams to do well when taking on foreign opposition.
Even though I enjoy victories over our local rivals Dinglehampton Blunderers and Aston Vanilla greatly there's never any real malice in my atitude towards them.
I'm enjoying watching them struggle but would sooner have them in the Premier League, along with Bumandtitty City..At the very least it gives us a good few points in the bank :-)
As for international football as an Englishman I'm fully aware everybody hates us but I like to see Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland do well against Johnny Foreigner.
Not really interested in rugby, just a load of fat blokes jumping on top of each other ;-)
Boing Boing!

Mostly I hope UK teams do well although I do enjoy seeing arsenal and Man U beaten ..still appreciate when they produce really good performances Other london clubs don't have too much of a problem with... and as I now live in Birmingham I sort of follow the ups and downs of WBA mainly as they seem such a nice friendly club and I know some of their supporters
Rugby Performance is a big decider for me... unless England are playing then mostly its torture
Cricket... Who's winning... ok do you want another beer
