Loved the 70s even though the 60s were more my era. Great programme and also the one the hour before, showing all the news items etc in 1970-1972 - miners strike etc. Showed all the new housing of the day and lo and behold there was a Wimpey three bed semi being built just like ours, we bought our plot in Sept 1972 at a cost of £6250 and moved in Feb 1973 and have lived here ever since - what memories.
Next week will be about the scheduled power cuts, how well I remember those, at work, we had to work around the scheduled timings for switch offs as I was a comptometer operator, so we had to do all the stock sheets in the mornings when we had electricity. We had a line of large fairy lights strung right across our large open plan office, run by the company generator. We also had portable Super SER gas heaters to keep us warm.
