...Do you always go for the same grape or is the cost a factor.Personally I like all reds so cost is a factor.MrsJan likes dry white only, how about you.

Red (Wolf Blass) cheers
Red for me...May have a white wine on a really hot Summer afternoon. Prefer a nice cabernet sauvignon.
They`re all the same grape. The only difference is whether the grape skins are included in the wine making process.
Liking most reds but not Cabernet Sauvignon. Cold whites are refreshingly good for summer days
Oyster Bay is a really nice white wine for the Summer

Sorry- it didn't show up first time!
I like red

I have been known to spend as much as £2.32 on a good bottle.

I did that once Mick-T but I took the decimal point out..seriously my favourite wine is Rioja I just love it
Red Merlot, Errazuriz or Jacobs Creek, or more expensive Chateau Neuf de Pape.
My usual tipple costs €1.39
They are not all the same grape variety, they vary enormously in their characteristics and how they tolerate local conditons. Their is a list of popular varieties as long as your arm, look them up on google. White wines can be made from black grapes (blanc de noir) as long as the skins are removed before there is enough alcohol produced to leach out the red colour. This also results in less tannin in the wine which is what gives it that dry feel on the tongue. White wines are also made from white grapes, these are 'blanc de blanc' wines. Most of the Loire whites around Nantes such as 'Muscadet' are from white grapes.
Mick, I believe I know you
Cheapest 14% red I can find....can't be doin' with the low alcohol stuff....:-)
Blimey, £2-32 for a bottle ! We older types can remember 8/6, eight shillings and sixpence, 42 1/2 pence, for a bottle of Algerian red, and that was going some ! Mind, at that time, ther best champagne you could buy, a Krug of a good vintage , was £4 - 10 s, £4-50, for a half-bottle (couldn't afford a whole one!)
I prefer soft fruity reds, usually Italian, for normal drinking. In white I like slightly fizzy; Cava, Prosecco, Champagne etc. for special occasions.
Rioja is one of my favourites, preferably made with the 'tempranillo' grape. There are some very good portuguese wines which are made from local portuguese varieties such as those normally used for making Port.
I love champagne...It doesn't like me much though :o(
I prefer a red wine. I usually look to see what's on offer. Love it when you get a 8.99 or 9.99 bottle for a fiver.
Same as commoner, highest percentage and lowest cost. Red, White, Rosé, antifreeze :-P
