176/176 viewing angle

What does this mean on the spec of a tv? Most are 176deg/176deg or 178deg/178deg. 180deg is a straight line so this does not make sense to me.
ps Is there a degree sign on the computer keyboard?

OH and a 176degree viewing angle would mean the screen has lost half it's brightness at half that angle.
So although 176degrees would be a stupid angle to actually try and watch a TV from a screen with a claimed 176degree viewing angle would look better at 40degrees from straight on than a screen with a 140degree viewing angle.
The figure isn't meant to say you can watch the screen from those angles, it's an indication of the point the brightness would be 0 which shows which screen has the least drop in brightness as the viewing angle increases.
