Corrie bullying

Yes, I know it's not real but some of the situations do mirror real life. In this story, a girl was being bullied on her way to school, in school, on the street and online, without telling anyone. Once her adopted mother found out, she, the mother, with her boyfriend, verbally attacked the Head in school, calling him unfit to run a school etc., insulted him in public and the boyfriend threatened physical violence towards him. At what point do the parents accept some responsibility, after all, a child is their responsibility up to the school gates! While I would say that the Head didn't handle the situation too well initially, the storyline does reflect the attitude of many parents who roll up into school expecting the school to be responsible for things which are beyond their control, often to take over the role of poor parents.

I'm not altogether sure that this bullying storyline was meant to go into depth on the subject.......it was more to bring in the chair of governors and give her a reason to resign and thus spark an election for a new governor. Ken and Wendy Crozier....the other woman in the ken/dreary divorce.....are both up for election and thus their relationship is renewed.

Trouble is, zebo, if your children are being bullied at school then it would be very unwise to go direct to the parts of the other child and going to the school is the best thing to do, because they can liaise with both parents and save some very tricky situations. Some parents do take it into their own hands and it makes the situation worse.

I think it was a well done storyline, in that originally the head was worried and didn't act appropriately because the child was the grandaughter of a governor - and, having worked in schools, I can assure you that this would be a tricky situation. In the end the Head was brought to his senses by his partner and acted correctly and tactfully and fortunately the governer involved was sensible.

years my daughter actually hit a bully square on the nose, and we never heard any more about it! (very early days of mobiles/texting)

school were completely uninterested and/or impotent ... like in corrie!

Not sure I understand this? A parent's responsibility for their bullied child? Or are you getting your words mixed up?

I actually think this story line is unrealistic. Instead of starting at the first stage of their policy they started at the end.
