There is a film crew coming to work in my local area this autumn and I would like to contact the director about possible work experience. This may sound quite naive but I believe that it should be possible to try and contact someone about this. I wondered if anyone had any tips on how to approch this kind of thing. The problem is that there is never a place you can write to unless you are a 'certified member of the press', It's rather annoying!

As teamcool says, contact Production Companies.

There are so many indipendant Production Companies out there. Thy getting a job as a Runner, as you will cross paths with many departments that way.

Kemps and Knowledge both list TV and film production companies.

Thanks, will try what you suggested!
Why don't you try contacting the local council as they will have been contacted by the company to discuss filming areas etc, they may pass your details onto the film production company on your behalf

I have a son at Leeds Uni who needs to get work experience too. I could subscribe to sites but at about 25 a month, that's not realistic for us!

How do young people get an opportunity to get experience in this field? To my mind, it's where people actually learn far more than in any Uni!

Chers for any help
