Did Elvis Presley know how to use a knife and fork?
Ridiculous I know but a friend says that the reason Elvis didn't tour outside the U.S. because he didn't know how to use a knife and fork. How did this rumour occur and how can I de-bunk it?

Here's an iconic shot of Elvis eating breakfast - with a fork
Though I think one might argue he, like a great many americans, doesn't show any signs of knowing how to use a knife and fork 'properly'

Elvis would have grown up cutting his food up into bit-size pieces, then putting down his fork and eating with his fork in his right hand - as do almost all Americans.
It's an interesting - but highly dubious idea that lack of table manners would prevent him touring - it hasn;t stopped a mass of heavy metal musicians I have seen eating over the years!
Since his manager 'Colonel' Tom Parker was an illegal immigrant, that is ar more likely and explanation for the domestic situation.
