Virgin airline to Florida............airline suitcase size......................................... ...

Has anyone flown with Virgin airline lately.? I have bought a new cabin suticase and it says it is ok for all airline including EasyJet and Ryanair but on looking in the Virgin sizes it is 4 cm too wide? all the other sizes are both 2 cm smaller so thats no problem. How strict are Virgin with carry on sizes.?

We flew to Orlando in April and Virgin used the standard cages in the check-in area to measure the cases. They are 56cm long x 45cm wide x 25cm deep. If in doubt, and not to cause any extra stress, use the Virgin size table: 56 cm long x 36cm wide x 23cm deep.

boxtops thankyou. I had checked the size that was how I knew it was 4 cm's out. Just wondered if anyone had travelled with virgin and had there carry on cases size checked.???? It is because we have always had smaller bags or cases and everyone else seems to get on with huge carryon and never gets checked for size. x

Is your case rigid or could it be squished into the test frame if necessary? If it's squishable I'd chance it.

Brenda I would advise do NOT take the risk, there can be nothing worse than getting to check in & being told that you cannot take your bag on board. Take the one you have bought back to the shop & see if you can exchange it.

Well I don`t know about Virgin but I have never, ever seen those racks being used to check sizes. OK, Ryanair and the like might use them but full service airlines don`t see the £ signs so much. Personally, I would take it. It`s a few cm too big in places, but a couple of cm smaller in other places. I`d be surprised if they`d do anything about that. You wouldn`t believe some of the bag sizes that make it onto aeroplanes. Worse case scenario is that you would have to put it in the hold which is what £30 or £40? If you have to buy another one it will cost you at least that (probably) anyway.

Thankyou to you all that have given me an answer. I will not take it as it just isnt worth the hassle. But I will look and see how big other bags are . And come back on here to let other people know if they do measure them or not.
