Does anyone remember a tv show from the early 70's with mice that didn't actually talk but rather communicated with a sound that sounded like one of those sliding recorder type instruments? And what was it called and what was it about exactly? I was very young and it is just a weird memory.

They were called 'Moomins'
I think you mean The Clangers

Even if you weren't young it is still a weird memory.

The BBC have a website answering more questions than you thought possible to ask.

Definitely The Clangers. Don't know what it was all about though!
..it was all about the soup dragon and blue string soup ofcourse..lol
pure class !

Yep, it's The Clangers, from the same stable as 'Bagpuss', 'Ivor the Engine', and 'Noggin the Nogg' - one of Oliver Postgate's Smallfilms productions.

Don't forget the Iron Chicken.

The Clangers - it's all coming back to me know. Thanks for your answers - thought I was losing it there for a moment...
