I am trying to find the name of a piece of classical music. I believe it is a waltz and the only lead I can give is that the first few notes are very similar to the start of the theme of Fawlty Towers.

It goes da da da da da da da da daaaaaaaa da da daa da da daa

If you can work this out from the clues above I would be very grateful indeed.

Thank you

Could be the Gold and silver waltz.
Question Author
Just listening to it now and it is not that one I am afraid. Thanks very much for replying.
Could it be Boccherini? Can't remember the name of it but I'll get back to you in a mo.
Minuetto by Boccherini, here you go.
Question Author
No sorry not that one either. I might just have to listen to Classical Gold to see if it is on there. Thanks.

I know Bocherrini as it is in the classic 1955 film The Ladykillers
not sure myself but if you listen to it a bit, perhaps it will come to someone.

where did you hear/see it

Try this -da da da da da da da da daaaaaaaa (pause) da da daa (pause) da da daa. Think of the first few notes of the Fawlty Towers theme.

I must sound a right one. I'm sure someone will get it!
listen as above.

I have been looking for it for ages. I heard it recently on the radio and they did not give the details.
what station was it on.
This is very irritating because I know exactly the piece the OP is referring to but can't remember what it's called! I remember having to learn it while I was doing my piano grades at school. I'll try to remember...
Question Author
I had thought of the radio playlist. However it was not on my radio and I don't know the station. Wasn't Classical Gold or Radio 3. Typical.
it is like the minuet,
Question Author
Yes, quite a slow one
classical fm maybe. where were you when listening,
still not sure

Question Author
Mark Rae clearly knows what I am on about. Yes it is irritating when you don't know or cannot remember!
Is it the Trout Quintet?
Question Author
Not the above either but thanks
