No disrespect to anyone, but isn't this getting boring now? I think the media should leave it now and let the relevant authorities get on with their investigations. But these things sell papers don't they?

doubt they will be boring to those involved, the abused and those who may have been involved. I cannot understand how this man got away with it for so long. And who on earth thought it a good idea to let him have keys to a top security mental health hospital.
Yes .... but let's have another thread on it anyway.
I think you may have answered your own question, 10ClarionSt
If this being reported stops one child in the future falling foul of a predator then I would say it is worthwhile.
Shall I throw in a MJ fact?
See this for a different take on the 'problem'

not really, seeing some who have come forward were in hospital at the time or in a children's home, and not enamoured of this creep. This girl was 15, John Peel should have known better, sadly it seems he didn't
I used to like John Peel's, Perfumed Garden, radio show and never liked Savile. You'd never have thought they were cut from the same cloth.
If this publicity helps put in place rules and regulations that protect children the their post-mortem reputations should take a bashing.
* then their...
going on that article, John Peels reputation is shot to pieces. I didn't like him or Savile, or any of the jocks of the time, i wonder if there are more revelations about other radio, tv presenters to come. Alongside the truly awful Gary Glitter i am beginning to wonder if there was some sort of paedophile ring going on then.
Now that some of the 'victims' are planning to sue some NHS trusts and the BBC, it looks as if this story will be around for quite a long time yet.
I agree, I spent all yesterday walking ruond humming the jim'l fix it tune, because every time they mentioned him on the news, they played it. Had it stuck in my head all day.
Round even! I doubt very much if JS is the only one, I should imagine that the others, if there are any, are shaking in their boots now.
i wouldn't speculate as to who, but you could be right.
I nearly didn't read this thread because I kind of agree with you, but I had to join in just to ask why you started another conversation about it if you're bored o it? Maybe we'd like to think we're bored of it but really we want to know how it all turns out and exactly what the scale of the abuse really was.
my sil got tickets years ago to totp and was told the minimum age was sixteen, they were both just sixteen at the time. When dressed up they could pass for 18 , they did not need their birth certs with them, girls will always dress to look older BUT these dirty pervs should have shown more restraint.
hopefully the more publicity this gets the safer it will be for vunerable young girls.
Savile seems to have deliberately targeted very young girls, what a horrible bloke.
I don't think the Savile and Peel situations are the same, Savile seems to have opportunistically abused very young children, Peel had a long relationship with a 15 year old. Yes, I know that that's under the age of consent, but let's think back to the '60s and '70s, did we carry our birth certificates? I personally don't consider that the Peel situation would have been considered as abuse by the standards of the day, ill-considered maybe, had he known her age. Can we try 40 year old events by the standards of today?

now that lawyers are getting involved it's becoming a monetary issue rather than a moral one
