Apple / ITunes / WiFi Query

I have a new IPad running iO6 as well as a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion. I have noticed that I can watch a movie from my MacBook Itunes on my IPad over my home WiFi, but I was wondering if that can still be done if the two devices are connected to different Wireless connections.
