Advice re male genetic testing

Hi. I have just had a second miscarriage in 5 months. The first was a missed miscarriage discovered at my 12 week scan (twin pregnancy both lost at about 8 weeks). The second I am going through now and is an early miscarriage at 5 weeks.

I was chatting with my other half tonight and although I knew he had had two previous pregnancies with two previous girlfriends I had never asked any specific details. It turns out both previous girlfriends had also miscarried. I am now starting to wonder if it might be worth seeing if he is the problem (certainly easier to check than me).

So what's my next move? Does he go to the doctor and ask for a referral?

It's up to him, but if he really cares then he wouldn't hesitate.

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

Maybe you should both approach your doctor together and see what can be done/investigated.

I hope you get answers soon.

It would make more sense for you both to be tested, IMHO. I had genetic counselling after a still birth and much to our surprise we found out we BOTH had a stable inversion but on different chromosomes. I am not sure that they would offer you genetic counselling on the NHS at the moment though, after 2 miscarriages. Usually things kick in after three :(

Thanks for your responses. I will see what the doctor says but I fear we may have to wait until a third miscarriage. I'm 38 though and running out of time so hopefully I will get pregnant again quickly.
