Which did you prefer id say World of Sport cause it had a better theme tune plus Dickie Davies was better than Frank Bough plus at 4 pm you got the wrestling with Big Daddy etc.

I use to watch World Of Sport just for the wrestling.

They have just released a dvd that includes wrestling matches from World Of Sport. That includes Big Daddy,Giant Haystacks,Pat Roach & others.

Grandstand for the opening music. We often used to switch over during a horse race to World of Sport, and sometimes caught something exotic such as lumberjack championships. 4 pm was the magic hour for grapple fans everywhere, then back to Grandstand for the football results.
It was wonderful. On The Ball with Brian Moore, the ITV 7, World Lumberjack Championships, New York firemen competing in bizarre tests of firemanship, and Dickie Davies famously Spoonerising 'Cup Soccer'. All this and Tally-Ho Kaye in the wrestling ring too.
Have a good week, 'til next week!
World of sport was much better, agree with Xollob used to listen to the Grandstand theme then switch over.

There was always too much Horse Racing on Grandstand which lets be honest is one of the most uninteresting sports going, unless you have a bet on.

And as well all know the British Wrestling was real not like this fake american rubbish....;)

Yep, used to watch WoS as a kid with me dad, mostly for Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks!

Anyone know where Dickie Davies is now? And if he's still got that tuft of grey hair?

Hallo JinxtheCat - I found this, but wish I hadn't. The poor chap's barking mad: he reckons the wrestling was all fixed!

Jinxthecat, Dickie Davis was a guest on Talk Sport about 2 weeks ago.I'm sure he mentioned something about him doing a programme for Sky.

He was on our screens a while back when he featured in a couple of the episodes of Ant & Dec Saturday Night Takeaway.
