Sound Of Music Dispute

I couldn't wait til New Year's Eve to see The Sound Of Music on TV, so I watched the DVD (for the umpteenth time) last night. Hubby walks in and refers to Liesel's boyfriend Rolf as a member of the Hitler Youth. I thought Rolf was just an Austrian delivery boy, but he is seen wearing a uniform and he does betray the Von Trapps to the Nazis towards the end (I'm sure you've all seen it, so surely no spoiler alerts required). Anyway, please settle a dispute: what is Rolf's status as far as the German (or is it Austrian?) Army / Hitler Youth, etc, is concerned. A precise term for me to throw at 'im indoors would be appreciated!

^ that's my assumption too. He was an Austrian postal delivery boy at the start of the film but who later joined the Hitler Youth and was on duty when he betrayed the Von Trapps.
