I don't profess to be an expert on UFO/Space 1999 Ex, but I don't think so. UFO is set in the early 80's, whereas Space is obviously in 1999. I believe that the concept of Space made it easier for the writers to come up with other worlds etc, though of course, the speed the Moon would have had to be going in the time frame would have wiped out all life on it! But these are the inaccuracies you put up with! In the first episode of T'birds Fireflash levels out at 100,000 feet and the sky is still blue and there are clouds; T1 is flying at 7500mph at 2500 feet and goes into a 30degree downward dive to land...at that speed T1 would have hit the ground in about 0.6 of a second, but its all good clean fun (except everyone smokes!). My favourite blooper is T1 starting down the ramp to the launch bay. When it arrives under the swimming pool it has turned 90 degrees; a fault only corrected in the films. Think I'll run through the videos of the two series over the next few days...nothing better to do!
