Hi community merry xmas. I am looking for a very old film that I saw years ago on TV. It centers around a famous Edinburgh department store. It may have been fictitious but had an elaborate system of pulleys and wheels to get money or goods to and from the floor on the ceiling. The era of the film was between 1890 and 1930s but I saw it in 70s. All I remember was it may have been on Princess street or more so Royal mile with a view of castle again may have been literal licence to manipulate to environment.
I know Jenners is now on Princess Street but this was about the shop.

The Battle of the Sexes 1959.
Peter Sellers.
Both Jenners and RW Forsyth's had view of castle and ancient method of paying for goods, so the department store was probably an amalgam of the two.
