basic instinct - do not read if you havent seen film - spoiler!!!

Hi. Watched Basic Instinct and I'm a bit confused. At the end Sharon Stone is in bed with Michael Douglas and camera scans down to reveal an ice pick. Does this mean she really was the killer after all? If so, why did the female doctor have all the clippings of Sharon Stone in her apartment and why was there no message from Gus on her answering machine etc? Thanks in advance

I think you are over-complicating a film which is only supposed to satisfy one criterium - male desire. Just sit back and enjoy the crossing-the-legs scene!

saw this on video abroad and at the end of it there was a short piece of film where the director points out that the key was in m. douglases girlfriends apartment.... and he said that was the giveaway....?

personally i picked up on the line when they were on the beach in which MD says that  he is going to catch the killer no matter what and she tells him to be careful...so I think the icepick is under the bed MD knows so and is waiting for her to use it and hopefully (for him) he will be able to catch her and arrest her. so they are two of a kind playing a very dangerous game.

I've closely scrutinised this masterpiece of Hollywood cinema and Sharon Stone is definitely the murderer. If you compare the naked body who kills the pop singer at the beginning to Sharon Stone it is defintitely her and not Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Never let it be said I don't do my research...
