Asda's Price Guarantee Seems To Be A Bit Of A Con
10 Answers
Asda's 10% price Guarantee seems very far from the truth to me.
I normally just log on to their comparison site and accept that they are cheaper, just because they say they are.
However, I thought I'd compare today as I was cheated because the order I placed online was far higher than my order was when I placed it. Asda states that the price charged is what it is on the day so maybe it will cost more for some items.
So I went online to compare, and Asda say they were cheaper than all the other supermarkets.
On comparing my prices, 4 items stood out. Asda said the 2 bottles of Rum they supplied were £27 which was much cheaper; But they actually charged me £33 on my bill. My Quorn Fillets were much cheaper at their comparison price of £3.00; but they actually charged me £4.00 on my bill.
I wont bore everyone with the others as they were all supposedly cheaper but charged me more.
Its a con and there should be someone to Swat them. Greedy People ASDA.

Better still, go to your local trading standards office and detail your findings. I think there may be some confusion on your part tho. I don't quite understand your comment 'because the order I placed online was far higher than my order was when I placed it.'

Unfortunately you have already ticked that you agree: Price
3.1 Prices on the website are the prices charged in store on that day. As prices may change on a daily basis, and the website is updated overnight, prices are therefore a guide only. There may be variations by the time We are due to Deliver, or You are due to Collect, Your order. When You shop online You will pay the same price (excluding Our online only promotions) that You would pay if You came to Our Store to do Your shopping on the day of delivery.
But phone the call centre anyway, they may refund the difference! It's a freephone number, so you can't lose by trying

Asda are not the only one as I found out recently at Tesco.

AlwaysConfused,
My annoyance with Asda is not the price increase (although its some hike, and more than Sainsbury's sell it for). Its that the comparison site states it was priced at at well less than I paid.
I have no interest to talk to Asda customer services in South Africa; Like most people who are Conned, I tell everyone I know, and shop at a more genuine supermarket.

That's where the call centre is based, they are the ones that process refunds. If you don't want to speak to them, you have no hope. Although they will point out terms and conditions, they will often refund for a goodwill gesture.

Zacs-Master.
You are right.
Although I agree that Asda has the right to increase their prices to what they wish, they have no right to advertise they are 10% cheaper when they charge higher prices than other supermarkets, and then tell me I paid less than I did.
I think I'll be to the Advertising Standards Authority for running “misleading” ads.
