Second Big Brother Racism Question

Has anyone else noticed the racial divide in the BB house?  In our flat we've spotted it and just wondered if other people had. 

PS - YES - I finally got into BB again!  I lasted longer than any previous year though! :-)

Yeah I noticed it too.

Did anyone else think that Antony was being racist when he called Derek 'malteaser-head'? Or did I take it the wrong way?

Maybe he meant the shape.  I hadn't seen too much racism in the house, I'm more interested in the fact that the group seems naturally to have divided into "white" and "non-white" groups.... roughly.  Obviously Orlaith and Eugene have mixed things up a bit now.

What racial divide?  Both of the two main factions are a mixture of racial groups.

Saskia, Anthony, Craig and Maxwell are all white - well, plus the fake tan. 

The other group does not contain any white members.

I exclude Orlaith and Eugene from my observations as they are so new to the house.  I'm talking about prior to their arrival.

calling derek malteaser head would have been purley jokey as a black man i would have seen it that way....was it said with malice?? also i have noticed that divide but i think it is down to a few other things as well

I just wanted to comment on the "malteaser head" thing!
His head is brown and shiny like a malteaser! Its not racist to say that he has brown colour skin!!! His head does look like a malteaser, it wasn't said with malice or even with a dodgy look!!
If someone said that a big white mans finger looks like a chipolata is that racist?? No of course not! It just happens to be so!!!

No they're not - Saskia is mixed race.  So the question still remains - what racial divide?

Well the groups still look more white and less white to me.  I was just observing.  If you think that all the white people sticking together and all the black people sticking together, with a few mixed-race people involved along the line isn't a racial divide, then that is fine - everyone's entitled to their own view. 

Saskia is quarter sri lankan by the way.  I'm quarter scottish - so I guess I'm mixed race too.

Have just noticed that I wrote btw, which may offend your txt spk ethics... then again, you wrote BB... I guess we all have occasions where spelling everything out seems pointless because everyone knows what we means. But this thought belongs on your other thread... :-)

I write btw too.  I think bits of "txt spk" are fine, after all we've been writing "etc" and "eg" for years haven't we!?

In response to Bernardo - Saskia is a quarter Sri Lankan I believe. However if you saw the first show Saskia said that she didn't like people "coming into the country", because all they want to do is "bomb us and kill us". So she might not be 100% born and bred British bulldog but she's got the views of one.

I don't actually think the divide is because of race myself, if I was black, white, brown, yellow or blue I couldn't stand to hang around Craig, the moaning git.

I'm not sure so its a case of "racism" more perhaps different cultures etc. But yes I noticed it too.

I dont think theres a racial divide just a divied between normal and eccentric, Maxwell Saskia, Anthony and Craig are just like mates u have down the pub where as Derek, Kemal, Makosi and Science are abit over the top. There is one member that dont apply to this and thats cos she's just plain boring!!! Vanessa !! the 2 new members will probably fall into the the eccentric and boring sections I think lol

I am still voting for Derek and Craig (at the end of the day!!)

Saskia referred to the other group as 'monkeys' when speaking to davina after the eviction. Now i would say that is an illjudged comment as it has racist connatations.
