Why did Ricky Tomlinson's character always call Antony (Ralf Little) 'Lurkio'?

I think it is a reference to him being tall and lanky.
I didn't know he did!!!! But wasn't 'Lurkio' the name of Frankie Howerds character in 'Up Pompeii'?

I think he started by calling him Lurch because he was so tall and lanky but then it developed into Lurkio.

i thought it was because lurch always answered the door in the adams family.

That was probably the other reason as Anthony was used as a scivvy.
\lurkio was Frankie Howerd's character name in Up Pompeii and his character was a slave, so I agree it was because he was always fetching and carrying for Jim.
