Comedy Or Comedy/drama About A Writer

Can anyone remember a British TV series from around 1980ish about a married couple and their lives? He was a writer and the only episode I can remember involved some work he was about to publish being accidentally a real event drawing MI5 interest till he was able to convince them it was a coincidence. The writer signed the official secrets act and agreed not to go ahead with the work but work on something else. If I remember the episode ended with one of the MI5 people reading something and saying Oh no not again. If anyone can remember what the show was called it would be greatly appreciated :)

Gosh, doesn't ring any bells. Tried googling it but there are so many in the 1980's!

Yes I tried google too with the same problem. The show had a similar feel to it to rings on their fingers but maybe slightly more serious. I can picture the actor but cant think of anything else he has been in to find out his name.

The intricate world of Gerald C. Potter is on R 4xtra. Ian Carmichel stars in that. Does that help at all?

I randomly remembered the actor's name - John Stride and from that was able to find the series - The Wilde Alliance from 1978
