And although the audience didn't find him at all funny, so much so that they booed him, and the fact that his act was scrubbed from the TV showing, the BBC still played it safe by explaining:
/// But while Boyle's set didn't make it onto the BBC Three show, a spokesperson for the channel said that it wasn't personal. ///
/// The spokesperson said in a statement: 'It was an extremely tight edit of a 3-and-a-half hour show down to 90 minutes and not every act or performance made the final broadcast.' ///

Jimmy Carr - watched one of his stand up shows where he told a very offensive homophobic joke...which I was both disgusted by and found funny.
Go figure.
Can't comment on Boyle because I literally haven't seen him ever. I don't like panel shows to be honest, so much of his career has passed me by.
Sarah Millican however - brilliant.
My new Year's resolution it to become friends with her.
It is not going well.

I've never found Frankie Boyle funny - and I don't find his material the least bit funny. I do, however, believe he should be able to perform it so long as people are willing to pay to see him. We ought to be able to make jokes about the queen's illness, or kate's pregnancy if we so wish - and if we're willing to allow that, we have to put up with the jokes that aren't funny.
