The scenery is stunning but the plot not great. I've recently read the book and think the programme would have been better if they'd stuck to the book more.
I've read some of the books in this series-they presumed that the viewer knew a lot of the background to the character-Douglas Henshall always good value but pretty lacklustre really. Will watch tonight for the finale but not expecting too many surprises.
Were any of the accents authentic?
Or did the producers go down the route of 'any old Scottish accent will do'?
In the same way that any 'peasant-stock' represented in historical drama all seem to hail from Zummerzet, or the south-west.......as do all the on-screen pirates.
