What I do object strongly to though is when hollywood
changes actual historical events, for example when we discover it was America who captured the enigma machine and cracked the code, or the US navy that won the battle of trafalgar, or that the evil english locked all the poor irish below decks while the titanic was sinking etc etc.
I agree that I think it's a case of making it more appealing to the american market, but it's only really Boston that's mentioned in terms of US cities. I think maybe Spielberg would have done better with a period setting to be honest, making something a bit different in a new niche. The modern machines in this film juxtaposed alongside a period setting could have been fantastic. Could have been awful, but could have been fantastic.
I was in a way a little annoyed that they didn't change the ending to be honest as I heard they were going to. Then as soon as the red weed started to die I was a bit miffed as it was evident that they hadn't.
Still, not a bad film though.
