The Reverend Andy Jolley (I kid you not) has got his cassock in a twist because people are not taking his religion seriously and are disrespectfully insisting on enjoying themselves by going to a football match.
He says that ""[The match] takes people in Aston's attention immediately away from what is the focus of the day which is Easter and Jesus's resurrection."
and "It's a day which legislation has recognised as a special one for families"
Are any of you enjoying today? If you are I think you owe Rev Jolley an apology.

Yes I am wantonly and Paganly stuffing myself with an easter egg,(I'm diabetic so it's a real treat and it's our symbol not theirs), and then I'm going to try to ignore everything about their religion of guilt for as long as I possibly can, but I hope everyone has a lovely Easter Christians included.

I bet the Reverend has no objection to someone cooking his dinner for him, and that in the case of an emergency he wouldn't turn away , a fire engine, ambulance etc. ;-)

People should want to attend church not be press ganged into it by some pompous vicar trying to make them feel guilty.
The problem is, the church has a lot to compete against for our attention, but it has not modernised to attract a new generation.
Congregations are old and attending church is not enjoyable for most people. It does not have to be dour. Other faiths seem to be able to worship the lord and have a pleasant time doing it.
The established church is stuck in rut. Belongs to the last century (or the one before that), and is not relevent to most peoples' lives

Hmmm. All the shops would be open today. The pubs would be open christmas day. We would get newspapers on christmas day.

You may be onto something AOG. But there might be even more distractions to keep people out of the Rev Jolley's church.

scotland..........our shops are opened. but it would appear since we have had ' sunday opening ' of shops. church congregations have fallen !

Pretty dull life you seem to lead, since you just seem interested in shops, pubs and newspapers.
