To the absolute purist it would be large format (half plate or larger) wet plate (collodion)technology using a mahogany and brass camera at least 100 years old. That is a little extreme though, mostly it involves finding a piece of landscape that contains pleasing elements, finding a viewoint that allows a good composion of those elements and deciding what lighting conditions would give the effect that you want to acheive then turning up at the rifght time and taking the photo. Black and white works better than colour in some cases.
