Note the difference in reporting, The Daily Mail respectfully addressees her as
Baroness Thatcher, whereas The Guardian just as Thatcher.

20,000 according to the Daily Mail are said to have paid their respects to this lady, whereas the Guardian published a pathetic video of those 300 protesting.

It makes me wonder when the media will stop reporting news with such a massive slant. Never, I guess is the answer. Both were correct and both should have been mentioned. Also it's been pointed out a few times that in trying to jump on the "Anti-Thatcher" brigade the DM has gone so far as to be untrue, publishing pictures of years ago claiming them to be yesterday, and back-pedalling on its own opinions of a few years ago.

What's wrong with that , aog ? The Guardian referred to Lady Thatcher as "Thatcher" in a short headline ( including the words"Thatcher's funeral") but as Lady Thatcher otherwise. Do you think that there weren't a few hundred protestors? It seems perfectly balanced reporting to me, and I'm a Conservative.

As has been stated, one can't assume all those at the cortege were 'right wing' - whatever that old stereotype means!

Also, it is amusing that one of the criticisms of the nutty fringe is that they are 'too young to even know anything about Mrs Thatcher'

And yet no one is daft enough to denigrate those young people paying their respects today and claim their respect for Lady T doesn't 'count' in some bizarre way

To be honest, I found the funeral ridiculous and wasteful, and the sycophantic fawning over Thatcher (I'm tempted to call it 'Dianification') made me as queasy as the handful dancing on her grave. I look forward to the day when a sensible debate about Thatcherism is possible. Until then I see nothing to be proud of in today's circus.
