\\\Sexual assault wasn't taken seriously in the 60's, 70's and even the 80's.\\
By whom?
It was unacceptable for the majority of people, but wasn't reported because as you say...they were not believed. Many young woman dressed to sexually attract the "stars" and this is still the case today with some footballers....
\\\\To those that say "why now?" because they will be believed and we no longer sweep things under the carpet.\\
No longer sweep things under the carpet?.....like 34,000 violent criminals "let off" under the "community resolutions"........by saying sorry........
This "digging out" of past sexual offenders needs to be assessed.........and this business of "completion" is a process over stated.....in my opinion.
Yes, having seen his opinions on women, sexual abuse allegations and the fact he reckoned he'd slept with over 1000 women, this does not surprise me at all.
I do agree with Sqad that lots of under age girls do dress provocatively and are quite happy to sleep with men they have their eye on often looking 10 years older than their real age, but that's not the same thing as rape, and that's what he's been accused of.
This makes one consider all the non-celebrities that have never been reported. I can think of at least 4 or 5 men who touched me inappropriately - and today unacceptably - when I was younger, nearly all when I was between 7 and 15.
Prudie....yes....that is my point.......the celebrities are carrying the can for what was prevalent at the time.
P.S What were you wearing when they touched you? How and where did they touch you? Did you enjoy it?............just for research purposes you understand ;-)
