I'm a big fan of the Tempe Brennan books and have only just found out that they have been made in to a tv series.

Is it worth watching? Is the series true to the books?

no it's not quite the same, in the books tempe works for 2 different labs and not at the smithsonian and Ryan in the books is not in the show, it is a character played by David Boreanez, I've watched the show from season 1 and it's at season 9 now, she does not have a daughter in the show nor has she been married.
I think i have up to season 5 on dvd.
In the tv show, tempe is a writer of novels though with the pen name kathy reichs lol
i also have them on my facebook, emily deschanel is the sister of zooey dachanel from the New Girl tv show, and in Bones Zooey played Tempe's cousin.

You must enjoy them then, Dot
oh yes, the characters in the show are very good, her assistant's dad is one of ZZTOP, (really him in the show lol but not in real life)
when they were looking for a new intern they tried different characters and that was very good, i'll not spoilt it for you though, you can probably pick up the first few series for about £10 on ebay, or you can probably watch them online
I didn't know there was a TV series, I have all of her books.
it's like a whole other thing has been going on in media that you and craft have just not spotted lol
I've read all of Kathy Reichs books and also seen all episodes of Bones, they're quite different but each offer something you might like. I find the books to be darker than the show, which to me has a light hearted side, the lead character Tempe Brennan is socially inept and has a very good story about her past.

Worth the watch, but start from the beginning.

Thanks, both - I'll give it whirl.
We watch this show religiously. It must be popular, it's even on TV here in NZ! If I have a criticism, it's that I don't really like Emily Deschanel's acting, and it would appear the norm in Washington DC is to strip all cadaver's of their skin and determine the murderer from the skeleton alone.
Entertaining none the less.
