Do people get paid to go on this show? I know they get fares and hotel, but are they also paid 'expenses'?

Don't think so. They do, however, get free DNA tests, which must cost a few hundred quid.

They get all the kestral super they can drink! disgusting excuse for TV.
Anyone on TV for any reason is paid at least an appearance fee.
Surely they must. After all there is a limit to how much degradation a bit of "fame" is worth. I'd rather know if people get paid to watch it.
Would they get repeat fees too then?
No, they don't, and if they did they'd lose their benefits for a while
A few years ago a couple from my village appeared on the programme. They said that they each received a cheque for £1000. True or not I don't know.
I heard it was £500.

hc - why would their benefits stop if you're allowed to have 6k in savings without declaring it?
I
You do have to declare savings of any amount - and it would count as earned income.
what happened there? Anyhoo, i was in the middle of saying that I love the JK Show :-)
It's little more than a freak show exploiting the feeble minded
My OH insists they're all acting.
If they were actors then it would quickly be exposed in the dailies.

If they were not actors but lying, their neighbours would quickly cash in by selling the true story to the dailies
Well i know one family who weren't actors as they were my work colleague's sister, mum, brother and brother's girlfriend.
I don't think they get paid a lot, someone I know was asked to do the Wife Swap program & it was only £500,, not a lot for showing yourself up in public is it?
