I am driving myself mad trying to remember the title of this series. I was sure Warren Clarke played the role of the factory boss and I vaguely remember a very funny scene where he, trying to be delicate here, 'had it off' with one of his employees in the toilet!
I've looked at his imdb entry and can't find anything. If it wasn't him, who was it?
Somebody put me out of my misery

How long ago? Set in modern day or historical?

Is it my imagination or were tele series really much better in them days?
It's your imagination - you've forgotten all the rubbish that was on.

Could you be thinking of Ciaran Hinds in one of the Catherine Cookson sagas.?
clocking off was one of the best programmes i have ever seen, with the lovely Philip Glenister and Lesley Sharp.. written by Paul Abbot i think...

I agree with hc, it is your imagination. Do you not find that when you watch all those programmes or films that you used to 'love' and haven't seen for a long while, they ultimately turn out to be an anticlimax? I think I have very fond memories of watching them with my mum and dad and sisters, but not really of the programmes themselves. There are a few exceptions of course.
