surely this is just ITV watching their back and bowing to press intervention, they haven't sacked the other 2 actors that are being sent to trial for sexual offences, at least one of which involves underage sex. How can they justify this sacking when compared to that? I hope he is in a union,
like i said yesterday, it ia appalling that the press, and apparently his employer, have lumped him in with the other alledged offences his work colleagues are charged with, that is totally out of order and scarily hysterical of Granada.
His character, Tommy Duckworth, was a drug pusher on the cobbles a few months ago.
It's not as if he is a presenter of children's tv or Songs of Praise. Corrie has portrayed murders, stalkers, domestic violence, rape, fraud, baby selling, drug pushing, adultery, drink driving, alcohol abuse, theft, bullying, sexual abuse in the name of entertainment and art.
it's the most hypocritical decision they could make. I hope he goes from strength to strength after this and if he has the right publicist (probably not max clifford) he'll be bigger than corrie this time next year.
Back in 1968 when philip lowrie left the show i wonder what reason was given? They have re-hired him all these years later when it is no longer a 'crime' to be gay. They have never handled their role as an employer very well.
t's appalling, completely an abuse of their power. Even if he has signed a 'be on your best behavior' clause to his corrie contract, the video was dome as part of a group of artists performing, what if he's had a role in a movie where he had to play a rapist or serial killer? It's the programme executives running scared. they're scared of the press and don't allow the viewers to make up their minds.
