Apollo 13

One of my favourite films, watched it again the other night and each time I notice somthing else or think of something else. Ok this time: When they are freezing because they needed the power from the heaters then why didn't they put on the space suits they had with them?

I don't know, just wanted to say, i think it's a great film, too.

The primary reason they didn't don their full suits was because of limited space when suited, the space inside the LM was tight for two people - with three, it would have been near impossible to maneuver.

Must have been absolutely terrifying!

maybe one of them could have, Freddo was pretty sick/borderline hypothermic for example. Anyway I guess the bit suits would have made moving about tricky as you say.

great film, with brilliant music.

Great film as you say, a magnificent effort from Ron Howard but what makes it so good for me was that it's nye on exactly what actually happened. Howard does a wonderful job of capturing the moments from all perpectives. The guys in space wondering if they would make it home and then those on the ground trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, literally as well as metaphoricaly. Nice touch with the cameo from the real Jim Lovell too, cinamatic brilliance.

I've seen it so many times too. I still hold my breath when they are waiting for re-entry.

Freddo being ill and the 'tension' bewteen him and Jack was 'made up' for the film (much to their annoyance!). Though they were all very cold, none of them were actually ill. Still a brill film...will they make it back!?

I remember waiting and watching the actual event as it happened live on tv.
the silence because of the re entry through the atmosphere seemed to last for a ever.
I was biting my nails because we were told they could burn up in the atmosphere, and I was cheering when they finally came into view, and spoke to Houston control
ive watched the film many times, and it still gets to me, every time.

I too have patchy memeories of the real event and they do have actual news footage in the film. The people of the world seemed to put aside their petty differences to watch Nasa and hope. Kranz was bang on when he said it was their finest hour.
