Movie - Horror About Child Going Missing

Hi, Can anyone remember the name of the movie where I think a child goes missing and the mother drives off searching for her and she goes over this mountain road to a town where there is a lot of ash and dust and sirens keep going off. Each time the sirens go off it gets very hot and more ash and fall out appears...I think there was a sequel and it might be based on a computer game
