Anyone else disappointed with this series of Downton? It finished tonight but hardly any storylines were resolved or explained how things happened.

If you haven't watched tonight's episode yet, don't open this link. I much prefer The Paradise - that is just brilliant this series.

Even if the story lines aren't marvellous I'd still watch Downton for the camera work and the gorgeous costumes...............
It is very "light" fayre at the best of times, but this series was true soap opera.

Although when they finished the last series with the death of Matthew Crawley, people accused the producers of ruining their Christmas!!!!! They've decided to play safe I guess.
Not at all, I loved it, and especially Tom this time.
but I love Jim Shelley's write-ups, he's as good as the programme.
i was disappointed about ediths beau but it was to see moseley happy for once

I also watch it for the costumes, the scenery and old cars etc but especially for the Dowager Duchess, she absolutely makes Downton Abbey! She alone makes up for the disappointing end to some of the storylines and yes Neti - I loved Tom in it too, hope it all ends happily for him. I did read somewhere that he and Lady Mary were going to get together, maybe they are building up his character for that great storyline - if so, bet it's on the Christmas Day episode! ;)
The logistics of getting to and from London in those days, would have precluded Bates from doing anything else but get off the train, turn round and come back again. Surely.
I gave up on it after the rape episode, it just got annoying, and I though how stupid to have Kiri Te Kanawa in it and to cut her singing about so much.
I found this series a little boring and mentioned it back in October, I gave up watching it after that night, even though I do like the costumes and everything that went with it, I watched movies the past few Sunday nights instead of downton

im just delighted ' the master ' is home safely from America.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Oh Rabbit" I can't stand Cora's voice!!
Thing is, Downton is a soap opera. It`s a chronicle of people`s lives and not a series of stories that have a beginning and an end. If there were fantastic storylines every week then the series wouldn`t be believeable. The second series (I think) faded out with a gentle village fete (as did this series). The ending will leave the viewer wanting to see more which we will do when we watch the Christmas special.
Agree with everything that Jim Shelley wrote in Daily Mail article.
Well, I enjoyed it!! It's pretend!
anyone else think that bates is now a double killer?
Nah, I don't think he's a single killer either :)

I enjoyed this series, wasn't keen on the rape bit but at least it wasn't graphic. The mystery around Bates is probably a red herring for another storyline as there is no way he could have gone down to London, killed your man then got back home again.

Roll on the Christmas Special. :)
