Yes, me too. It is the actual date today so yes, people will do it today . I imagine it could be difficult if you are driving though, need somewhere safe to pull in.
Nope, if the phone rings I have to answer it - I don't go out of my way not to observe it but equally, I don't stop what I'm doing it if it happens to fall on a work day (easier at home). Plus if you only take 2 minutes of the year on a specific day to reflect on this sort of thing then I think it's kind of a meaningless observation anyway.
No, except that I'm normally quiet anyway. Don't see the point and I know I never used to see it bothered with, it came in, or maybe back in, not that many years ago.
I did....it's not the only time I consider what was given and the waste and heartbreak but there is something special about so many people sharing the thoughts at the same time.....x
When I was station manager at a large London railway station we had 3 trains due to depart at 11am, if the drivers wanted to observe the silence then the trains left 3 mins late. easy to make up the time, if they did not want to do it then the trains left quietly, no whistles etc.
My wife and I were in Sainsbury's at 1100. An announcement was made over the Tannoy that there would be 2-minute silence, and it was certainly quiet for those 2 minutes. Some of the staff lined up just inside the entrance, and it was all very respectful.
