Hi, you 'tecchies'. Knowing that i am an avid reader, my son, bless his cotton socks, has given me a kindle as a belated
Christmas pressie. Trouble is my internet is provided by 3Connect and is on the dongle. Am i correct in assuming that the two are not compatible? Thanks in advance for your help.

Does the dongle create a wifi signal, or is it just plugged into the PC?
If it creates a wifi signal, connect the kindle to that.
If it doesn't you'll have to transfer books by usb cable. See here: http:// www.ama zon.com /gp/hel p/custo mer/dis play.ht ml?node Id=2007 98780
UNLESS you've got a 3g version of the kindle. In that case it will automatically connect to the "whispernet" and you should be able to download books as you like.

Hi Ken - if it is the bog-standard one then you'll have to use the USB connector.

I've had another good play with the bloody thing again to no avail. Tried what you suggested, Ab Editor, but in order to do that you need to register the Kindle with Amazon. And in order to do that, yep you guessed it, you need a wi-fi connection. However, i have a mate who has the Virgin set up and i will be visiting him tomorrow with a list of books that i will download at his place once i have registered using his system. Thanks for your help guys.
