Anybody just seen the supermarket challenge with Clarkson et al driving their clapped out bangers around some supermarket floor, Clarkson not giving a damn about hitting the products all around the store, considerable damage being caused. Then Hammond repeats it, some staging of the 'collisions' and finishing with his VW(?) sliding over the finishing line on its side.

'Amusing' though it may be - some tozzer will go and try this out in real life, if not here, then in somewhere like the States or Canada (and there is a big programme following over there).

I wouldn't have thought others would copy... it's not real life when I watch Top Gear. The supermarket must have given permission, and be compensated for the inconvenience.

Not quite - in the tighter confines of a Morrisons..................
Must have been tight DT, one can barely get two trollies to pass in our local let alone a car !

//The supermarket must have given permission, and be compensated for the inconvenience.// I agree on that boxie - the point is what happens if some of these mad petrol heads who love the programme try and replicate it in a supermarket without permission, thinking it to be a 'cool thing' to do, or whatever re bets/dares etc.
Sorry DTC, But Clarkson is driving the Golf, and the Hamster is driving a Nova SRI. They have done a Shopping Centre drive-thru before (Ford Fiesta v Chevrolet Corvette). That was more like a scene from The Blues Brothers.

If Top Gear is not totally staged then I am the King of Siam
Don't like the stupidity of this programme but Hubby loves it and has it on .......... we missed this stunt having just got in. I can't get over seeing Lord Grantham from Downton looking so different! see my post ....... sorry DT didn't know you had already posted about Top Gear.

It was a film set.

I cannot imagine a numpty recreating the scenario having been inspired by Top Gear.
Question Author
I agree about the staging and the shoot tricks - however, some of the audience will read this as being 'real'...........

Ann - Hughie did look different and that justifies another thread, IMO
Question Author
I will accept that, maybe, I have had a humour failure........
Clarkson and his co-presenters never give a damn, idiotic man, idiotic programme, can't understand why it's so popular.
The joy of Top Gear is that they do things which we might like to do but know we can't. Are you seriously suggesting that someone will drive a car through a supermarket without thinking of the consequences and just because it was a stunt on Top Gear? Right. How many years jail do you think they'd get? Criminal damage is just the start of it. Criminal damage with intent to endanger life or being reckless whether life would be endangered? Yes. Dangerous driving? If the court holds that a supermarket is 'a public place', that too. Assault? Yes, assault can be reckless. And they wouldn't give any of that a thought?

The United States, Fred?

God Bless All Who Sail In Her......
There was another part where Clarkson was blown up while driving so if some tozzer goes out and tries that in real life that'll teach the Top Gear team.
It wasn't a super market it was filmed on a set in a studio.
Top Gear now seems to have no serious content at all, just a slap stick comedy.
If only the first part of your post were true BB,ah well we can hope.
Question Author
I agree with that - and yet they can make sensible and entertaining programmes - James May's TT IoMan Meccano bike was great - and even had my Alzheimer's mater holding her attention.......
I have never watched such a load of utter rubbish before. How is it allowed on the tv? There is no entertainment in this show at all.
Caran, you are not a bloke !
