Who else finds it annoying that regular tv programmes are scrapped for sport, ie tonights Holby City for football. I detest sport. Tuesday is the only night I am usually in!

I find it outrageously annoying, I wanted to watch Silent Witness tonight.  Apparently, as my husband says, it's a ***** game anyway so who wants to watch it.  Bloody BBC spending our hard earned cash again.

Oh no it isn't is it??  I've just rushed about, tidying a mess I'd left in the garden so I could sit down & watch that!  Now I'm in a really bad mood - football aaaggghhh!

The difference is that soaps can be watched anytime the football is being shown live.

Why is it that women dont ever consider how much of licence money is wasted on never ending mind numbing trash like eastenders?

After having said that I'm no football fan either.

If sport is a "triviality" then where does that leave rubbish like Holby City?

They could have put it on BBC2 where there was a couple of one off programmes instead of a series that some people follow.

Interestingly Channel 4 got their highest ever viewing figures for last Saturdays coverage of The 2nd Test.

I couldn't agree more, londondave. I was all ready to sit down and watch Holby City last night and was really annoyed that they'd done it again. We had all this last year, with the Come Dancing thing being shown when Casualty should have been on!!! Why they can't put it on BBC2, I don't know. Makes you wonder why we bother paying for a TV licence!

I feel kinda sorry for people who are so affected by the rare occurence of the tv schedules being disrupted every once in a while so that a not-insignificant number of people can enjoy a bit of live sport. Now that's trivial. I'm sure you won't have missed anything in Holby or on Albert Square, so come on, let's share the airwaves.

Not that I got to watch the football anyway - I used up my tv sport entitlement watching the cricket!

It used to really annoy me too (or more my wife actually) but now it doesn't at all.  We no longer have a television.  We chucked it in about 3 years ago.  We have five children and we just do really cool stuff instead like play games, make stuff, read, read, read and of course, post answers on answerbank.  I feel really liberated now not having my week organised around the TV listings.
