oh no I have missed a couple of episodes who beat up the character Adam and what is the connection with Karl whom Ronnie killed?

Adam is Karl's brother. The inference is that Ronnie got the lads from the gym to beat him up.

It wasn't televised - it was just that you saw Ronnie watching the lads training in the gym, then I think she made a phonecall - and next we know she is asking Phil to drive her to the hospital, so she can prove she has "taken care" of things!! So it was just inferred/suggested that she had had some of the boys beat him up ............... how that would put of a family from persuing a murder case is beyond me - but then Nora who now seems to be Laura is out of a nursing home and acting like she owns the manor!!
