What do you think of this programme starring Ricky gervaise (quite apart from whether or not you like Mr. Gervaise and starred someone else)? Personally I think it's in really, really bad taste and have never watched it, the trailers which have been shown have been more than enough.

Sorry I only liked Gervaise in The Office. He is a bit up his own rear for me.

I found The Office and Extras both buttock clenching and totally unfunny. However Derek I find entertaining, and working with special needs I could give him a lot of material for another ten series. However, he was at pains to stress on tv the other morning that Derek is not disabled in any way and has never been portrayed as such. I see it as a case of laughing with them rather than at them.

Thank you for this posting. I dismissed this show simply by watching the trailers. I am a MASSIVE fan of Mr Gervais, but have to admit that the trailer put me off. Because of the responses to this thread, I think I will give the show a look...just because there are people who have responded whose taste in comedy align to mine (they will know who they are) and have enjoyed it.

Not watched the new one from series 2 yet, but I absolutely adored the 1st series.

All the characters were brilliantly played, and Derek himself was so endearing it was lovely, and like the previous user said I had a tear in my eye at the end of series one.
