Barbara Knox, AKA Rita Sullivan, 'manhandled' by police after being stopped for driving while under the influence. You'd think stars should be afforded more deference.

that's what she was hoping ..........wrong glad she got treated like us small people .
It is hard to comment as we do not how she behaved in the police station. Was her conduct such that she required some sort of restraining?

She gave a positive breath test, so
she was driving while under the influence,
there is no excuse for doing that, I hope they throw the book at her!
Sounds like as well as the effect of intoxicants she was suffering from "But don't you know who I am?" syndrome.

Hopefully they'll throw the book at her.......page by page.
I'm with Chilly there, i'm willing bet she used the classic "do you know who I am?" line.

Now obviously she'll be a "frail, old pensioner"....
They must have seen how many shorts she downs in the Rovers.
//// You'd think stars should be afforded more deference. ////

Why ?

And who defines a "star" ?

It's precisely your attitude which allowed Savile to get away with it.
Have I got this right? She was a passenger with her over the limit daughter.....the police drove her home....she then drove to another police station....drunk....the police offered her another lift home...she declined and got in her car and drove away?

Do the police take all the stranded passengers of drunk drivers home?
Canary,
IMHO you have failed to spot sandy placing his tongue firmly into his cheek when he typed that into the OP.
I think she's come across as a right diva and thinks she's above the law. I hope she gets a suitable punishment, if guilty. Won't view her the same in Corrie now !
Do the police take all the stranded passengers of drunk drivers home?
----------------------
Depends on a few factors i.e. how far the passengers still have to travel, are they compliant, are they vulnerable, are other patrols in the area not too busy and willing to assist and how benevolent are the officers on duty?
Thanks, Chill....I think....from what I have read which may be wrong of course....that she was treated quite well.
From my own experiences gness invariably my colleague and I would secure the vehicle, then convey the driver and passengers to the Nick.
I would then stay with the driver throughout the breathalyser procedure in Custody whilst my colleague could then take the passengers home (provided they were compliant of course!), returning to Custody to collect myself and the (now charged) driver, again provided the driver wasn't so drunk to warrant being detained overnight.
Those who were non compliant were given the telephone number of the local taxi firm.
Thank you.....not a bad service really....considering....☺
Yes, re-reading it I think you're right Chilled. I hope so.
chilld - if I get drunk at home will you help me up the stairs?
Floozie.....☺

Best offer I've had all year!! Can I loosen your clothing too, just to be on the safe side?
Chill....if she's reached the stairs....she's naked....☺
LOL @ gness! I've never seen a de-frocked nun before(who has?), could be a whole new experience.....!
