Transferred Videos Not Playing Well.

I have transferred pics and vids from my iphone to my laptop. However the videos aren't playing well. They are jumpy and some just seem to freeze although the sound sometimes continues.
Please tell me there is something that I can do to fix them because I deleted them off my phone after they transferred over.

What format are the videos and what video player is being used to play them on your laptop? You might need to convert the videos to a different format or download some different codecs to enable your laptop's video player to play them properly. Aside from that, it would be a good idea to back up the video files if they are important to you.

It could just be a case of your laptop being too slow to process the video. I have a car camera and videos from that play perfectly on my laptop (with Windows 7 and a fast i7 processor) but they are jerky on my desktop (Windows Vista and an older dual-core processor).

Thank you for your replies and I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to acknowledge them. I appreciate you taking the time.
I suspect it might be that my laptop is getting a bit old. Web pages are getting slow to open as well but are fine on the desktop and ipad.
